Sched­ule out; league ad­justs Lions pool rules

Ma­jor League Soc­cer re­leased its tour­na­ment sched­ule two weeks be­fore the open­ing match, un­veil­ing a rule change that could ben­e­fit Or­lando City.

The tour­na­ment fea­tures 54 matches span­ning 33 days and will be played at ESPN Wide World of Sports on Dis­ney World prop­erty. Teams be­gan re­port­ing to Walt Dis­ney World Swan and Dol­phin Re­sort on Wed­nes­day and will play matches from July 8-23.

The tour­na­ment will be­gin with a group stage, with all 26 teams di­vided into six pools. The Lions are the top seed in Group A, which has six teams while all other pools have four.

De­spite the dif­fer­ence in com­po­si­tion, the league orig­i­nally an­nounced only the top two teams could ad­vance
