Postponed Pompeii exhibit now set for late October
Orlando Science Center says “Pompeii: The Immortal City” exhibit will open at the museum Oct. 26. The traveling exhibit had been scheduled to premiere in June, but its arrival was postponed by the coronavirus pandemic.
It will remain at the science center through Jan. 24.
The displays will include artwork, jewelry, statues and architecture of the city that was buried in volcanic ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. There are more than 100 artifacts and experiences within “Immortal City.”
“The artifacts encourage quiet contemplation while timed entry limits capacity and offers people ample time, and distance, to examine displays and better understand the magnificence and ultimate tragedy of this remarkable place,” JoAnn Newman, president and CEO of Orlando Science Center, said in a news release Wednesday.
