Metallica coming to screens at Central Florida drive-ins
Metalheads, start your engines: Metallica is coming to a screen near you.
The first rock band to be featured in the nationwide Encore Drive-In Nights series, the famed heavy metal act will be appearing Aug. 29 on five screens in Central Florida. Catch Metallica’s pre-recorded live show shot specifically for drive-in screens at Epic Theatres pop-up drive-ins in Mount Dora, Clermont, Deltona and St. Augustine, as well as the Ocala Drive-In.
Across the nation and in Canada, Metallica’s performance will be blasted from speakers at more than 250 drive-in venues.
The metal band’s set comes after previous Encore Drive-In Nights appearances on select screens in the U.S. from Garth Brooks in June and Blake Shelton in July.
The concert is being filmed in California and will mark the first time the band has put on a show in almost a year. Before hearing music from throughout Metallica’s near four-decade career, fans can see and hear a special guest performance by Three Days Grace.
Tickets cost $115 per vehicle, which includes up to six people, and comes with four digital downloads of S&M2, a recording of two 2019 concerts with Metallica and the San Fransico Symphony.
On the band’s website, Metallica said they’re looking forward to performing for fans again, even in this pre-recorded format.
“This is an exciting first for us, as we continue to explore new ways to connect with you and keep playing live,” the website reads. “This definitely qualifies as a unique and memorable experience for us. We hope you think so too!”
Tickets for the Aug. 29 performance go on sale at noon local time on Friday. Fans in Metallica’s Fifth Member club receive early access to pre-sale tickets. For more information, visit encorenights.com or ticketmaster.com.
