Dodgers:

RHP Joe Kelly has had his eight-game suspension for throwing at Astros players reduced to five on appeal. Kelly was initially handed an eightgame punishment by MLB after his erratic pitches and demonstrative taunts sparked a benches-clearing situation last month at Minute Maid Park in Houston. The game marked the first time the teams had met since it was revealed the Astros stole signs en route to a 2017 World Series title that came at the Dodgers’ expense. On Monday, Kelly was placed on the 10-day IL with inflammation in his right shoulder.

Yankees:

All-Star slugger Aaron Judge was out of the Yankees lineup Wednesday night against the Braves because of tightness in his lower body and it’s uncertain whether the oft-injured outfielder would return for the start of a weekend series against the rival Red Sox. Judge began the day leading the majors with nine HRs and tied at the top with 20 RBIs for the AL East leaders. He exited during Tuesday night’s 9-6 win over the Braves.

Marlins:

The Marlins sidelined by a coronavirus outbreak are all asymptomatic, and some have applied for reinstatement, manager Don Mattingly said. The Marlins placed 17 players on the IL last week following an outbreak in Philadelphia that forced seven games to be postponed. The infected players returned to Miami to be quarantined, and will likely need rehab workouts before rejoining the team. “They feeling great,” Mattingly said. Players on the COVID-19 IL must be cleared by the MLB joint committee before returning to action.

The Cubs are 12-3 in their first season under manager David Ross, matching the club’s start after 15 games in 1970.
