Cowboys’ Dalton on COVID-19 list

-

The Cowboys placed QB Andy Dalton on the reserve COVID-19 list on Tuesday, keeping him out a second straight game after he was sidelined by a concussion.

Dalton will be the first Cowboys player to go on the COVID-19 list since before the season.

The loss of Dalton likely means a second consecutive start for rookie Ben DiNucci against the undefeated Steelers on Sunday.

The seventh-round pick replaced Dalton for last weekend’s 23-9 loss to the Eagles. The Cowboys (2-6) have had three starting quarterbacks this season after star Dak Prescott broke his ankle in Week 5, ending his season.

Dalton was the Bengals starter for nine years before the they drafted Joe Burrow first overall in this year’s draft and released the former TCU standout. Dalton signed a one-year contract to be Prescott’s backup.

The 33-year-old Dalton got a concussion in a 25-3 loss to Washington on a hit that led to the ejection of linebacker Jon Bostic, who was also fined $12,000.

■ The Buccaneers activated former AllPro WR Antonio Brown from the suspended list. Coach Bruce Arians said Brown will have a role in Sunday night’s game against the Saints. The Bucs signed Brown last week to a one-year deal for a base salary of $750,000 with incentives that could push the value to $2.5 million, ESPN reported. Brown, 32, who played one game last season for the Patriots, concluded an eight-game suspension for multiple violations of the league’s personal conduct policy. ... The Patriots acquired receiver Isaiah Ford from the Dolphins. The Dolphins will get a 2022 seventhround pick back in the deal, ESPN reported. Ford, 6-foot-2, 194 pounds, has been the Dolphins’ starting slot receiver for much of the season. He has 18 catches for 184 yards this season.
