Listro traded to Kansas City
The Orlando Pride traded midfielder Jordyn Listro to Kansas City on Tuesday in exchange for a 2022 third-round NWSL draft pick.
The trade included a clause that will allow the Pride to receive Kansas City’s less favorable second-round pick instead if Listro delivers to certain conditions. If Kansas City no longer holds a 2022 second-round pick at that time, Orlando will receive the team’s 2023 second-round pick.
Listro earned a place on the Pride after initially training with the team as a preseason invitee in 2020. She stood out in the Fall Series, starting in three matches.
The midfielder’s performance with Orlando helped her move back into the Canadian national team talent pool, earning her international debut during the She Believes Cup in February. She will join Canadian national team stars Desiree Scott and Diana Matheson in Kansas City.
“Jordyn has been a consummate professional during her time with the Pride, putting in the work every day since joining us for the Fall Series last season and being a great teammate for the locker room,” general manager Ian Fleming said. “Jordyn’s short-term goals have evolved positively as a result of her recent international call-ups and we’re happy to come to a deal that not only provides her with an opportunity to meet those goals, but that gives the Pride a valuable asset for the future. We want to wish her the best of luck in Kansas City and thank her for all she has given to the Club and community over the last year.”
The Orlando Pride will kick off the 2021 Challenge Cup on the road against Louisville on April 10.
