LSSC announces vaccinatio­n plan

Students and staff can receive 1st dose April 14-15

Lake-Sumter State College is offering the COVID-19 vaccine for all its students and staff, the school announced Tuesday.

The first dose of the Pfizer vaccine is scheduled for April 14 and 15 at the Cooper Memorial Library in Clermont, with the second dose scheduled for the same location for May 5 and 6. A limited number of Johnson & Johnson vaccines, which require only one dose, may be available.

The schedule for the walk-up event is: „ Students and staff with last names beginning with A through L may come on April 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (No one should line up before 7:30 a.m.)

„ Students and staff with last names M through Z may come on April 14 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

„ Students and staff with last names A through Z also may come on April 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (No one should line up before 7:30 a.m.)

The vaccinatio­ns are being offered to all currently enrolled LSSC students and employees (ages 18 and older), as well as all admitted students (18 and older) for the summer or fall semesters this year.

Students who are currently enrolled or admitted who are ages 16 or 17 are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine if they bring a parent or guardian to the event. The student’s parent or guardian also is eligible for a vaccinatio­n.

LSSC on-campus partners who work full-time on a campus and are ages 18 and older also may receive a shot.

The Florida Department of Health in Lake County is making 1,000 doses available for the event, and the Clermont Fire Department will administer them.
