Epcot: Creations Shop to be park’s new ‘flagship’ store
Walt Disney World has announced a new flagship store for Epcot. Creations Shop will open this summer, according to a post on the official Disney Parks Blog written by Imagineer Zach Riddley.
“It will be an open, bright, welcoming environment with huge glass walls that allow sunlight to pour in and make you feel like you’re in touch with nature even while indoors,” Riddley writes.
Next door will be the return of Club Cool, a Coca-Cola-themed stop.
Mouse Gear has been the prime shopping location for the park, located in Future World. Before Epcot’s construction projects kicked in, it was next to the large fountain.
That building has been demolished, and Mouse Gear has operated from a smaller location in Future World East, near the construction of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster.
Creations Shop will have Mickey Mouse influences though, including a mural of the character as seen in concept art of the store.
“We were inspired by Mickey as our subject for creativity — but this is Mickey like you’ve never seen him before,” Riddley said. “You’ll discover original homages to him throughout the space, including large, dynamic murals and new artist expressions that showcase the global, contemporary icon that Mickey has become for generations around the world.”
Club Cool again will serve worldwide variations of the cola. It also will debut this summer, Disney said. Club Cool and Creations Shop will be part of the World Celebration neighborhood of the reconfigured Epcot.
