The Orlando Magic are planning to sign free agent frontcourt player Donta Hall on a 10-day contract, according to league sources.

The deal likely will be made official next week, sources said, and Hall’s 10 days won’t begin until the contract is finalized.

Orlando signed NBA G League Finals MVP Devin Cannady to a 10-day deal Tuesday but created an open roster spot after waiving center Khem Birch on Thursday. Birch is expected to sign with the Raptors once he clears waivers.

The 6-foot-9, 232-pound Hall has slotted in at power forward and center during his professional career, which started in 2019-20. He’s known for his rebounding and shot-blocking, and for being a powerful finisher at the rim.

Most recently, the Raptors signed Hall to a 10-day contract in February, but he did not appear in any games and was not re-signed.

Hall played three games with Raptors 905, Toronto’s G League affiliate, and six games with G League Ignite in the NBA G League bubble at Disney World before joining the Raptors at the NBA level.

Hall, 23, averaged a combined 10.2 points and 8.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 2.1 blocks per game in those nine G League contests.

Last season as a rookie, Hall played out two 10-day contracts with the Pistons — appearing in four games — and one 10-day deal with the Nets. He averaged 6.6 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 77.8% in five games with Brooklyn during the NBA restart in Orlando.

In 50 career G League contests, Hall has averaged 14.2 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.

In four years at the University of Alabama, Hall blocked 227 shots in 135 games. He averaged 10.5 points and 8.8 rebounds as a senior.

Hall will earn $110,998 on the 10-day contract.
