Universal: Bride of Frankenstein, ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ set for 2021 Halloween Horror Nights

- By Dewayne Bevil

Two more haunted houses have been announced for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. Thrill-seekers will be able to experience mazes based on “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and the Bride of Frankenstein character, Universal Orlando revealed Thursday.

A “Chainsaw” house, inspired by the famed 1974 slasher film, appeared in the 2016 edition of HHN. In 2007, it was based on the 2003 remake of the film.

A Bride of Frankenstein maze was shown to some Universal Orlando visitors last year, although Horror Nights was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. This year’s version is dubbed Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives. The bride house picks up after the events of 1935 s “The Bride of Frankenstein,” a film from Universal Pictures.

“Her unwavering quest to find eternal life will come at a cost, and guests will soon find themselves entwined in a frenzied battle in their daring attempt to escape,” reads a house description in a Universal Orlando news release.

Universal previously had identified two other haunts for the upcoming event, the theme park’s 30th scare-fest in its history. Visitors will see a house based on “Beetlejuice” and “The Haunting of Hill House,” a Netflix series. Ten mazes are expected for the 2021 event as well as scare zones and some live entertainment. Universal has said that Jack the Clown, a popular past icon, will also be part of the upcoming event.

Halloween Horror Nights kicks off Sept. 3 and runs select nights through Oct. 31. Single-night tickets and vacation packages are now on sale.

The Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal Studios Hollywood in California, which begins Sept. 9, also will have “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and Bride of Frankenstein houses in their lineups.
