California debacle shows need to stay informed

The top Republican candidate in the California recall election, Larry Elder, announced the day before the election that there was voter fraud and called for a state investigation of an election that wasn’t even over (“GOP promotes fraud claims before California recall vote,” Sept. 15).

I know that the Republican Party continues to manipulate our confidence in voting and democracy — I call it fake fraud.

Florida seems to be fostering its own brand of voter manipulation with ghost candidates and dark-money donors. It can be hard to stay informed about all that goes on, but it becomes more and more important in today’s political climate.
