Two-time Emmy Award-winning journalist and former Lakeland resident Luana Muñoz has joined WESH-Channel 2 as a weekend news anchor, according to a news release. Starting Saturday, she will deliver reports at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. on WESH and 10 p.m. on sister station WKCF-Channel 18.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the WESH 2 News team,” Muñoz said in the release. “It is great to be back in Central Florida where I was raised and look forward to spending time with family and experience what the community has to offer.”

Her last job was at KTBS-Channel 3 News in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she anchored mornings and middays. There, she covered the Trump presidential campaign and anchored 2020 coverage of Hurricane Laura.

“Luana is a fantastic journalist with tremendous experiences, and we look forward to her contributions to our news team,” said WESH 2 news director Kirsten Wolff in the release.
