Denzel Aberdeen and Ernest Udeh Jr. both scored 23 points in the boys basketball victory.
The Panthers (6-2) face nationally-ranked Greensboro Day (15-1) of North Carolina on Wednesday at 1:15 p.m.
DP built a 41-23 halftime lead vs. Ballard (5-3). That margin dwindled to 64-61 midway through the final quarter before the Panthers closed out the game with a 13-3 run.
Montverde Academy (7-2) plays Milton (5-2) of Georgia in a late semifinal game Tuesday night. IMG (8-1) of Bradenton plays Oak Hill (12-5) of Virginia in the other semi.
Orlando Christian Prep lost 73-66 in overtime against Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian in a matchup of 2020-21 state championship programs.
The Warriors (7-3) were up 23-11 after one quarter and led until late in the game. They fell behind and had to rally themselves to force overtime, which Calvary dominated.
Ven-Allen Lubin scored 23 points and A.J. Brown added 19 for OCP, which went 1-2 in the tournament.
Taylor Hendricks, a 6-foot-9 UCF commit, scored 21 for Calvary, last season’s 3A champ.
Lake Highland wins in 2 OT
Lake Highland Prep won the consolation bracket at the King of the Bluegrass tournament in Kentucky with a double-overtime 80-78 victory against hometown Louisville Trinity. The Highlanders (8-1) finished with Ohio State signee Brice Sensabaugh on the bench.
Sensabaugh hit a buzzer-beating 3-point shot to force a second overtime before he and fellow senior standout Jah Quinones fouled out early in the four-minute extra period. Senior guard Jared Berry took over and carried Lake Highland to the win. He finished with 22 points and a player of the game award.
“Jared had a couple of and-ones and a big 3. Huge crunch-time buckets with Brice out,” Lake Highland coach Ben Fratrik said.
Sensabaugh scored 24 points and made the all-tournament team. He averaged 27.5 per game as the Highlanders finished 3-1 for the trip.
Quinones added 6 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
Windermere advances in Ocala
Windermere High scored a 51-48 win against Jacksonville Providence (6-2) with senior guard Jeremy Torres leading all scorers with 17 points. Jalen DeBose added 13 points.
The Wolverines (9-1) will play Doral Academy (5-2) of Miami-Dade in a semifinal game on Wednesday night. The Firebirds beat previously unbeaten Clearwater Calvary Christian 63-50 in their quarterfinal.
Apopka (9-1) played host Trinity Catholic (7-1) in the late semifinal.
Central Pointe Christian Academy (13-4) of Kissimmee won 71-50 against Alachua Santa Fe in a consolation bracket game.
Elsewhere
A young Oak Ridge team lost 60-58 to Sheldon (5-4) of California to complete a 1-3 showing at the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas. The Pioneers are 9-3.
Sanford Seminole (7-2) stretched its winning streak to six by defeating Valdosta, Georgia (6-4), in a firstround game in the Battle on the Island at Fleming Island High School.
Jyshuan Melvin scored 26 points for Evans (4-5) in a 79-66 win vs. Miami Florida Christian (9-3) in the Clash at the Cross event at Central Florida Christian Academy.
Wellington (8-2) won 70-33 against Kissimmee Osceola (8-2) in the Holiday Hoopla in Vero Beach.
Calvin Liptrot scored 23 points for Jones in a 66-51 win against Naples (3-5) in the Florida Classic at Daytona Beach Mainland. The Tigers (7-4) play again Wednesday.
Defenses dominated as Villages Charter (8-1) won 35-33 against Boone (7-5) in the championship game of the TFA Invitational. The host Royals (6-4) won 53-32 against South Fort Myers (8-5) in a consolation bracket game.
