One of the biggest Disney animated films of the past few years has been “Encanto” which became a blockbuster hit on Disney+ after an abbreviated theatrical run. Jessica Darrow, who voices fan-favorite character Luisa in the film, will be heading to Orlando later this month for MegaCon from May 21-22, and couldn’t be more excited to meet “Encanto” fans at this upcoming event.

“When I meet fans, especially at things like comic cons and fan expos, they let me know [how] they see themselves in this film, and how much it’s brought out within them, ... it’s amazing,” Darrow said.”It’s the most gratifying feeling as an artist.”

Darrow says that the positive effects and messages of “Encanto” have been amazing for so many marginalized communities, including Latinos, those who struggle with mental illness, and generational trauma as well. “It’s bringing so much to light and I feel like there are even more layers within it that I am still like unfolding that I never even like realized before and the fan base, pointing out all of these things as people watch it over and over again, are just so amazing.”

Darrow also appreciates the importance of the film’s messages for young fans, saying that it helps “kids want to aspire to embrace their own differences and individuality,” adding that she hopes to continue working on projects that inspire the next generation.

Though Darrow is still delighted by the success of Encanto and the film’s strong fan base, the actress says that she’s “hungry to do more,” in the near future, adding that she’s recently signed on to a few new exciting projects that haven’t been announced yet.

However, one thing that Darrow can discuss is her upcoming EP, which she’s putting the finishing touches on. “It’s very much a glimpse into my past year,” Darrow says of her music, adding that this period of her life has “been a true discovery of myself and a journey of self-love.”

Fans who want to see Darrow later this month can visit the official MegaCon website for more information on tickets to the convention as well as prices for autographs and table photos with the actress.

Darrow will be joined by dozens of other celebrities at this year’s MegaCon, which kicks off May 19 and will feature appearances from Brent Spiner and LeVar Burton from “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” Nathan Fillion from “Firefly,” Brendan Frasier from the “Mummy” series of films and a long-awaited “Lord of the Rings” reunion with Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan, who play the film series’ four hobbit characters.
