Disney: Barbershop, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reopening

- By Dewayne Bevil

Walt Disney World is planning to reopen Magic Kingdom’s Harmony Barber Shop this summer, and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is set to stage a comeback this year as well.

Those establishments have been closed since March 2020 as responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Harmony — located near the entrance of Magic Kingdom on the City Hall/fire station side — will reopen July 31. Disney will start taking a limited number of daily reservations on July 28. They will be available online or through the My Disney Experience app.

Walk-in appointments at the barbershop will be based on availability, according to a post on the official Disney Parks Blog.

There’s a lot of nostalgia associated with the shop, which opened with Magic Kingdom in 1971 and has been the site of many “baby’s first haircut” scenarios. Disney says it’s the final Main Street location to reopen after the pandemic.

Reopening plans for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique shared by Disney are less precise. The blog post says it will “begin reopening its doors for royal transformations later this year” at WDW and Disneyland. It does not mention month or season.

Bibbidi Bobbidi featured tiara-to-toe makeovers, frequently with a princess theme. In Florida, there had been locations at Disney Springs, inside the Grand Floridian Resort and at Magic Kingdom, where it operated in space within Cinderella Castle.
