Second person arrested in December murder, robbery
A second person was arrested in the murder of Kevin King, who died days after being shot as he was being robbed last month at the Floridian Express Hotel on the I-Drive corridor, according to the Orlando Police Department.
Along with first-degree murder, 18-year-old Nicholas Anderson was charged with armed robbery.
He’s in the Orange County Jail with Briesha Williams, 19, who faces charges of second-degree murder, robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, court records show.
Police arrived at the Floridian Express early morning Dec. 5, after King was shot and robbed of “a meaningless item,” an OPD press release said. Williams was arrested Dec. 13 for attempted murder and armed robbery while King was hospitalized.
King died of his injuries Dec. 23, at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Williams’ charges were upgraded Thursday, according to a court filing.
Anderson was arrested
Friday morning and allegedly confessed to killing King in an interview with investigators.
The 18-year-old was already facing charges after being arrested for a shooting that happened three days after King was shot, court records show.
In that incident, a man was found shot in the leg at a Home Suite Homes hotel in Colonial Town Center. The victim survived his injuries but didn’t talk to police when they arrived at the scene.
According to an affidavit filed in that case, Anderson left a passenger in a truck while he ran upstairs to grab items from his room when the victim tried to hop into the driver’s seat.
When Anderson returned, the victim tried to throw a punch through the front passenger window and was shot by Anderson’s passenger, the latter told police.
The Orlando Sentinel isn’t naming Anderson’s passenger because he wasn’t charged with a crime.
Anderson then drove away, made a U-turn and fired several shots at the victim, who was hiding behind parked vehicles.
Records show he was later charged with firing a gun in public and possessing a firearm as a convicted delinquent.
