Tuesday Morning is closing all its Central Florida stores

- By Austin Fuller

Tuesday Morning is shuttering its remaining Central Florida stores.

The off-price home goods and décor retailer’s locations in Winter Park, DeLand, Lady Lake, Titusville, Merritt Island and Melbourne were included on a nationwide list of Tuesday Morning shops that are closing this year. Everything at those stores is on sale, the company’s website states.

Tuesday Morning revealed in a Feb. 14 news release it was seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

“The Company intends to close stores in low-traffic regions while allocating the proper resources to remaining stores in high-traffic regions,” the release said. “The Company believes this targeted approach to winding

down unprofitable and underperforming stores will position Tuesday Morning to emerge from bankruptcy with a profitable, cash-generating store fleet that serves its most engaged and loyal customers.”

Dallas-based Tuesday Morning has more than 480 stores in 40 states, including more than 40 in Florida.

“After considering how best to address Tuesday Morning’s exceedingly burdensome debt, we have determined that the best path to reorganizing and transforming the Company begins with a Chapter 11 filing,” CEO Andrew Berger said in the release. “Fortunately, we have the support of a committed capital provider in Invictus and a clear vision for transforming into a focused retailer that serves its core, heritage markets in a profitable manner.”

The closing Orlando area stores are at 701 S. Orlando Ave. in Winter Park, 486 U.S. Highway 27 in Lady Lake, 2661 S. Woodland Blvd. in DeLand, 2447 N. Wickham Road and 7777 N. Wickham Road in Melbourne, 745 N. Courtenay Parkway in Merritt Island, and 2420 S. Washington Ave. in Titusville.
