Florida State’s season opener against LSU at Camping World Stadium on Sept. 3 will be broadcasted live on ABC at 7:30 p.m.

The Sunday matchup marks the second consecutive year that the Seminoles have been featured in a primetime slot on Labor Day Weekend. Last year, FSU safety Shyheim Brown blocked an extra point attempt by LSU’s Damian Ramos in the final seconds to preserve a 24-23 win over the Tigers at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

This also is the second time that FSU has opened a season in Central Florida.

Florida State took on Ole Miss at Camping World Stadium to kick off the 2016 season, with the Seminoles coming away with a 45-34 come-from-behind win over the Rebels.

Florida State finished last season 10-3, capped with a 35-32 win over Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl at Camping World Stadium on Dec. 29. It was the program’s first bowl victory since 2017 and marked its first 10-win season since 2016.

The Seminoles enter this upcoming season with several key starters returning, including quarterback Jordan Travis, who threw 3,212 passing yards and 24 touchdowns. Additionally, running back Trey Benson (990 yards) and receiver Johnny Wilson (897 yards) are back along with defensive end Jared Verse (16.5 tackles for loss, 9 sacks).

This will be the 11th meeting between these programs, with FSU holding an 8-2 advantage, including winning the last five in the series.

LSU wrapped last season in Orlando with the Tigers (10-4) defeating Purdue, 63-7, in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on Jan. 2.

This is the fourth neutralsite opener for the Seminoles since 2014, starting with Arlington, Texas (Oklahoma State, 2014); Orlando (Ole Miss, 2016) and Atlanta (Alabama, 2017). The team was supposed to play Boise State in Jacksonville last season, but FSU was forced to move the game to Doak Campbell Stadium due to weather concerns.
