-

FORT LAUDERDALE — Ercan Kara and Martín Ojeda each had a goal and an assist to power Orlando City to a 3-1 road victory over rival Inter Miami on Saturday night.

Kara gave Orlando City (5-44) the lead in the 19th minute, using an assist from César Araújo to score his fourth goal in eight appearances this season.

Leonardo Campana scored the equalizer for Inter Miami (5-8-0) in the 57th minute, taking passes from Josef Martínez and DeAndre Yedlin on the way to his third goal of the season.

Orlando City regained the lead in the 68th minute on a goal by Ojeda — his third of the season — with assists from Kara and Rodrigo Schlegel, who had subbed in four minutes earlier.

“Congratulations to our fans for winning the derby,” Orlando City coach Oscar Pareja said. “Beyond the three points that are very important for us, it means a lot to them. We’re very happy to have such a performance here on this field against a main rival. We are very proud. I want to congratulate the players on the way they played tonight.”

Orlando City took a two-goal lead in the 86th minute on defender Rafael Santos’ first career goal. Ojeda and Duncan McGuire picked up assists as Santos scored in his sixth appearance and third start.

Orlando City had an 11-6 advantage in shots, winning for the first time this season when taking more shots than its opponent.

The club entered play with a 4-0-4 record when taking fewer shots and an 0-4-0 mark when taking more shots.

Inter Miami’s Drake Callender and Orlando City’s Pedro Gallese each finished with one save.

Inter Miami saw a two-match win streak at home end after it entered play having won 14 of its last 20 home matches. Only Los Angeles FC (47) and the Philadelphia Union (45) have more home points than the 44 of Inter Miami over that span.

Orlando City returns home to host Atlanta United on Saturday.

Inter Miami travels to play Montreal on Saturday.
