Ticked off! @turn signal use

-

To the person annoyed by noisy lawn equipment, there is a solution. It’s much quieter and it’s green as well. There are now a whole list of battery-operated devices including weed-whackers, edgers, and mowers from small ones up through larger commercial zeroturn ones. Not only are they much quieter but there is no smell of burnt oil exhaust in the air and on the operator’s clothes. No need to go to the gas station and measure out the right oil/gas mixture. Sorry, even battery operated blowers are noisy-it’s just the physics of pressurized airflow.

I’m ticked off that at least once every day I receive emails from my credit card companies enticing me to “enjoy” low introductory rates – in hopes that I run up a large debt so they can gouge me with a very high interest rate when the promo expires. And they are determined as they send time running out reminders over and over.

Regarding homeowner insurance. If a company no longer wants to provide insurance for our homes, then they should no longer be permitted to offer auto or any other insurance in the state. Why should they continue to make millions on our auto and other insurances, while our choices for HO’s insurance dwindles and premiums increase?

Though I am very thankful to every driver using their turn signals, I would appreciate appropriate use of the signals by turning them on at least five or six seconds before your turn rather than using them just as you are actually making the turn. It’s only common sense.

The flip side

Thank you to the host, staff and volunteers who produce the weekly garden show called Flip My Florida Yard where on Saturday afternoon on WUCF/PBS I can learn how to put the right plant in the right place, how to conserve water and what type of plants will bring pollinators and butterflies to my garden.
