Allen R Trammell, Jr
In loving memory of Allen Raymond Trammell, Jr., who peacefully passed away on February 17, 2024, surrounded by his devoted family. Born on July 19, 1942, in Montgomery, Alabama, Allen was the beloved son of Allen Raymond Trammell and Annabel Dismukes. Raised on Cross Creek Plantation in Eufaula, Alabama, he epitomized the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion instilled by his parents.
Allen’s journey of excellence began at the Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN, where he emerged as a standout athlete, distinguished military captain, and respected leader among his peers. His athletic prowess continued to shine at the University of Florida, where he played football under the mentorship of Coach Ray Graves. As a cornerback and leading punt returner, Allen earned recognition as an All-SEC selection in 1964 and showcased his versatility by excelling on the baseball diamond. His legendary performance against Kentucky, where he hit a grand slam homerun and two doubles in a single inning, remains etched in Gator folklore. Allen’s remarkable .425 batting average in 1965 remains a testament to his unparalleled skill and dedication.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Allen was a pillar of the University of Florida community, actively involved in organizations such as Florida Blue Key, F Club, and Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. His contributions to collegiate sports were honored with induction into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame in 1975.
Following his collegiate career, Allen pursued professional football with the Houston Oilers until a careerending injury cut short his time on the field. Undeterred, he transitioned seamlessly into coaching, serving as the Defensive Backs Coach and Head Recruiter at his alma mater under Coach Doug Dickey from 1971 to 1977.
Upon leaving coaching, Allen spent the next 10 in the sporting goods industry. He served as a Executive for Diversified Products Corporation.

In 1987, Allen embarked on a successful career in the commercial insurance industry, where his leadership and expertise earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. At the time of his passing, he held the esteemed position of Senior Vice President at USI Insurance Services, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Allen found joy in hunting, fishing, playing golf with friends, and cheering on his beloved Gators. However, his greatest source of pride and happiness was his family. He shared a deep and enduring bond with his devoted wife, Randy, and took immense joy in the accomplishments and adventures of his children, grandchildren, and extended family.
Allen’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones will continue to inspire all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Randy; children, Allen R. Trammell III (Kimberly), Michael Trammell (Emily), Shannon Lancaster (Kyle), stepdaughter Cameron Linton, and stepson Craig Linton III (Amelia); cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Emilie, AJ, Tyler, Anne Lawson Trammell, Norah, Clara, and Trammell Lancaster, and Anders Linton; sister, Leita Coleman and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
A memorial service to celebrate Allen’s life will be held on April 11 at 2pm at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Orlando, followed by a gathering at the Country Club of Orlando. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Allen’s memory to the UF Center for Movement Disorders and Restoration, Orlando Health Foundation or a charity of choice. Allen will be dearly missed but forever remembered for his warmth, integrity, and enduring legacy of love.
