- By Rick Silva

PARADISE >> Paradise police are looking for a man who allegedly stole more than $8,000 in jewelry from Paradise Coin & Gift on Thursday afternoon. Police say that at about 2:08 p.m, officers responded to a 911 report of a robbery at the store in the Holiday Market Shopping Center in Paradise.

According to the Paradise Police Department, the storeowner was reportedly chasing a man at the time of the 911 call. However when officers arrived at 2:12 p.m. they say that the reporting party had lost of sight of the man and officers began canvassing the area, however, were unable to locate the suspect.

Police say that a man and a woman had been in the store together and were clearly associated with one another.

However, police say that the woman left the store by herself in a Chevy Tahoe while the man remained in the store. Police say it was then that the man stole several rings from the counter and ran through the parking lot towards Wells Fargo Bank. Police believe he left in the vehicle before they could get there. The stolen jewelry was valued in excess of $8,000.

Police say that based on the circumstances of the investigation the crime determined was to be

a grand theft and not a robbery. At this time, the man, who is described as a white male adult with a slender build is wanted for violation of 487(a) PC — Grand Theft.

He was wearing a red beanie, khaki jacket, blue jeans and brown boots. The woman, who is a person of interest in the investigation, is described as a white female adult, heavy set, with dark hair and wearing turquoise shirt and dark blue jeans.
