Bidwell hosts 6-6-6 tournament

The scores were close in the recent El Rancho Chico Golf Club 6-6-6 tournament. The format was six holes scramble, six holes alternate shot and six holes best-ball. The team of Jeff Merica and Jeff Blocker shot 62.7 to win low gross in the first flight.

The Bidwell Park Women’s Golf Club enjoyed its first Guest Day Tournament since October 2019 because of the COVID 19 restrictio­ns.

The Chico-Paradise SIRs Golf Club traveled to Oroville and played Table

The Canyon Oaks Women’s Golf Club held its weekly game last Thursday in spite of the wind and smoky air, counting only the even numbered holes and subtractin­g one-half a player’s handicap. Tracie Cvitkovich posted another round of 80 for the second week in a row to take low gross again in the Table Mountain Women’s Golf Club weekly tournament. Junior Golf

Hyunhu Na shot 151 (75-76) to win his age division (12-13) by a whopping 8 strokes on the 6,200 yard, Hiddenbroo­ke golf course in Vallejo, a difficult and challengin­g course (the voice of experience), in a two-day Junior Golf Associatio­n of Northern California Tournament.

Upcoming City Championsh­ip

The 94th Annual City Chico Golf Championsh­ip (the second longest running city championsh­ip in California) is scheduled for Sept. 11, 12, 18 and 19. The low 32 players in the morning qualifying round on the 11th will move into match play to determine the overall champion.

After a 2-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Canyon Oaks Women’s Golf, in concert with the Country Club staff, is hosting the 23rd Annual Pink Ribbon Open Golf Tournament. This is a four-person scramble format with separate flights for men, women and mixed teams. The entry fee for the Sunday, September 26 charity event is $60 for COCC members and $100 for non-members, and includes golf, cart, range balls, breakfast and lunch. The proceeds go to support the local Bridging the Gap for Breast Cancer charity.
