Do not support Tuscan Water District

-

Please Butte County Water Commissioners and Board of Supervisors, do not approve the formation of the “Tuscan Water District” representing the Agricultural Groundwater Users of Butte County. AGUBC is a invitation only, secretive group with $2,500 admission fee and closed meetings that would be controlled by large, out of county and out of state agribusinesses. Not one person one vote but one acre one vote is the plan.

The result is that one member would control 23% and 5 members would control 54% of the vote ignoring the needs of the remaining 6,500 land owners. The sub-basin should be under control of the our county and not outside interests. The plan is to use currently “excessive” Paradise Irrigation District water to recharge the Tuscan aquifer and so gain control of our precious aquifer. This is dangerous for Paradise and aquifer users. Ground water is the life blood of our region, Please do not allow these two issues to go forward.
