Orland volleyball sweeps Anderson
Trojans’ straight-set win marks the 100th victory for head coach Miranda Coughlin
The Orland High volleyball team swept Anderson 3-0 which marked the 100th victory for Trojans’ head coach Miranda Coughlin.
Orland won 25-6, 25-19 and 2511 Thursday night at home.
Franchesca Martins led the team with 13 kills while Mallory Foster contributed seven aces. Zoey James added six digs and 23 assists.
Orland (12-2) begins Butte View League play at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday against Oroville.
DEL ORO 3, PLEASANT VALLEY 1 >> The Vikings fell to Del Oro 25-15, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-19 at home.
Emma Daughtery led the Vikings with six kills and 10 digs. Delaney Thau had 12 digs and seven aces, Paige Coley added five blocks and Alli Mimbs provided 18 assists for PV.
Pleasant Valley (2-7) will face River Valley at 2 p.m. Saturday in the North Valley Challenge at Chico High.
College volleyball
CHICO STATE 3, DOMINICAN 0 >> Chico State swept the host Penguins 25-20, 25-10, 25-23 at the NorCal Kickoff in San Rafael.
Senior Makaela Keeve finished with a game-high 17 kills and nine digs. Sophomore Brooke Ono added 26 assists and eight digs for Chico State.
Chico State (1-0) continues tournament play Saturday.
College men’s soccer
CHICO STATE 1, WESTERN WASHINGTON 0 >> Jacob Chong scored the lone goal of the game in the 29th minute as the Wildcats competed for the first time in 660 days.
Sophomore goalkeeper Luis Albarran notched three saves in the shutout for Chico State.
Chico State (1-0) hosts Seattle Pacific at 7 p.m. Saturday.
