Lassen County on Sunday announced the reduction of dixie fire evacuation orders to warnings in the Milford area east of Highway 395 from the Milford grade intersection south to the flux Road intersection.

Officials also reduced and evacuated order in the McCoy flat area south of Highway 44 from County Road 821 east to hog flat reservoir to a warning.

The reduction in the orders came on a day where the fire burned 9,050 acres and is now 898,951 acres.

The fire remains 56% contained with a full containment day now said to be determined.

The number of structures destroyed remains at 1,282, with 688 of those being single family homes.

West zone update

Fire officials say that the activity increased in Lassen volcanic national park with active runs in the brush and timber.

Officials say that primary and secondary lines are holding in the Old Station area while fire crews worked aggressively throughout the day to extinguish hotspots and improve lines in the Janesville and Milford areas.

Officials also say that the weather is forecasted to become hotter and drier would lower relative humidity recovery throughout the next week.

Officials note that while evacuation orders have been reduced to warnings and many warnings are now lifted, as residents return home, they should remain vigilant and monitor evacuation information.

East zone

The fire continued to threaten several structures in Dixie Valley, officials said, with a hungry

fueled driven fire spreading rapidly southward in marching down ridges on both east and west and rims of the valley.

Officials say hand crews with heavy equipment, helicopters, scoopers, and air tankers are constructing indirect containment lines around the structure in Dixie Valley and are trying to steer the slop over that crossed into Ross Canyon Saturday into the Sugar Fire scar.

Fire officials say that crews built dozer lines from Horton Ridge Southeast to the Dotte Fire scar to the east towards the Sugar Fire scar to prevent a southward

spread.

Officials say they expect the fire in the Dixie Mountain State game refuge to burn into the edge of the Sugar Fire later Sunday evening.

They also say crews are maintaining and improving fire lines on the southeast side of Coyote Hills.

They also say they worked with West Zone firefighters to keep the fire away from the structures and the highway open along the escarpment above Highway 395.

They say containment lines on the Turner and Grizzly Ridge held the fire in place as crews used water to cool hotspots and reinforce lines.

In the Devil’s Punchbowl area south of Taylorsville the fire behavior was minimal

and crews kept the fire in check and continued to cool it down with helicopter water drops.

Fire officials say that structural protection continues in
