Mariners rally late to stun Astros

HOUSTON >> In the wildcard chase with precious few games remaining, the Seattle Mariners don’t have time to sulk after tough losses.

A’S 5, WHITE SOX 1 >> Oakland snapped a four-game losing streak with a win over Chicago.

Frankie Montas delivered and along with three key double plays turned to strand runners in three of the first four innings, Montas turned on the jets and found his nastiest splitter to turn in productive seven innings.

The A’s notched five runs on White Sox starter Dallas Keuchel.

CARDINALS 5, DODGERS 4 >> Adam Wainwright pitched into the ninth inning and Yadier Molina homered, helping St. Louis top Los Angeles.

BLUE JAYS 6, YANKEES 3 >> Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his 41st home run and streaking Toronto knocked the slumping Yankees out of the AL’s top wild-card spot, beating New York.

RANGERS 8, DIAMONDBAC­KS 5 >>Nathaniel Lowe had three hits, Jose Trevino drove in three runs and the Rangers matched a season high with their fourth straight win.

TIGERS 5, PIRATES 1 >> Miguel Cabrera and Robbie Grossman each had four hits, helping Detroit avoid a series sweep.

TWINS 3, INDIANS 0 >> Joe Ryan carried a perfect game into the seventh inning of his second big league appearance, leading Minnesota to the victory.

MARLINS 2, METS 1 (10 INNINGS) >> Bryan De La Cruz had three hits, including a game-winning single off the center-field fence in the bottom of the 10th inning that gave Miami a victory over New York.

ORIOLES 9, ROYALS 8 >> Kelvin Gutierrez hit a gametying two-run single, two Kansas City outfielder­s collided on a ball hit by Cedric Mullins, allowing two more runs to score, and Ryan Mountcastl­e followed with a two-run homer as Baltimore scored all their runs in the eighth inning in a win over the Royals.

RED SOX 2, RAYS 1 >> Hunter Renfroe hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning and threw out Joey Wendle trying for a triple from deep center field for the final out of the ninth as Boston beat Tampa Bay.

NATIONALS 4, BRAVES 2 >> Juan Soto crushed a goahead homer in the seventh inning and Washington beat Atlanta.

BREWERS 4, PHILLIES 3 >> Eduardo Escobar hit a tiebreakin­g solo homer in the sixth inning, and Milwaukee topped Philadelph­ia.

CUBS 4, REDS 1 (10 INNINGS) >> Jason Heyward hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Chicago a win over Cincinnati.

PADRES 8, ANGELS 5 >> Yu Darvish threw six strong innings to earn his first victory in 11 starts and carried San Diego to a win against Los Angeles.
