Get a shot for the ones you love

-

I feel compelled to write this letter to all of you who have still chosen not to be vaccinated.

I am a 76 year old retired RN who was one of the first group to be vaccinated in January. I would have been due for a booster because it has been found that after about six months the vaccine may lose its ability to protect against the virus. I have Covid. My symptoms didn’t really fit the profile for a Covid infection and I have been protected with the vaccine. It has been 23 days since the start of my symptoms with a gradual increase in intensity which has utterly defeated me. After several trips to the ER, the test came back positive which explained every part of the nightmare.

Look around at the people you know and love: family, coworkers, friends and members of our community. Get the shot! If not for you, do it for them. I also want to give a huge thank you to all the Enloe staff who took care of me. I am so proud and grateful for the amazing job they are doing for our community. They are stretched to the limit, but continue to give their all.
