Local alums pace Butte win over Cosumnes River

The Butte College volleyball team earned a pair of 3-0 wins Wednesday at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento.

Butte beat Modesto 25-22, 2512, 25-22 led by 10 kills by Chico High alumna Emily Hanlon. Pleasant Valley alumna Mallory Moore had a team-high four blocks, Amina Moummad tallied nine kills and 12 digs and Samee Taylor recorded 21 assists.

In the second match for Butte against Cosumnes River, Butte won 25-23, 26-24, 25-16. Orland alumna Janelle Fisher had three aces and eight digs, Moummad recorded nine kills, Moore added four more blocks and Taylor led in assists with 27.

Butte (4-2) plays next Friday at 6 p.m. at home against Yuba College before playing at 1 p.m. Saturday at Delta College.

PLEASANT VALLEY 103, ENTERPRISE 11 » PV won all nine events in the matchup Wednesday.

In the 100-meter breast stroke and 100-meter fly events PV’s Hunter McGuire placed first. Tristan McPherren won the 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter freestyle events for PV. Ethan Besnard won the 50-meter freestyle event and 500-meter freestyle event for the Vikings, and Colby Kennedy won the 200 meter individual medley event.

McPherren, Kennedy, McGuire and Noah Smyser won the 200-medley relay event for PV.

Chico, Foothill: Chico’s team of Jonas Bourne, Elliot Hull, Zander Krok and Dillan Perry took first place in the 200-meter medley relay. Krok won the 200-meter freestyle event and 100-meter fly races, Bourne

won the 200-meter individual medley and 100-meter breast stroke races, Theron Clark won the 50-meter freestyle, Perry won the 100-meter freestyle and 100-meter breast stroke races and Mason Winzenz won the 500-meter freestyle race.

Chico’s team of Clark, Krok, Jaeger Cornwell or Winzenz took first in the 200-meter free relay event, and in the 400-meter relay event Bourne, Hull, Perry

and Winzenz took first place.

PLEASANT VALLEY 125, ENTERPRISE 11 » PV won 10 events in the matchup Wednesday.

In the 100-meter breast stroke PV’s Kyla Menesini placed first in a time of 1 minute 26.53 seconds. Maya English won 100-meter backstroke won for PV in 1:17.09 as well as the 200-meter individual medley event. Gabrielle Mino won the 500-meter freestyle event, Ella Farris won the 100-meter freestyle event as well as the 50-meter free style event, and

Rachael Brennan won the 200-meter freestyle event and the 100-meter fly event.

The team of Molly Brown, Mino, Brennan and Farris won the 200-meter free relay as well as the 200-meter medley relay event.

CHICO, FOOTHILL » The team of McKenna Winzenz, Audrey Vierra, Sienna Cross and Maddie Smith won for Chico in the 200-meter medley relay. Emma Upton won for the Panthers in the 200-meter freestyle event, Smith won the 50-meter freestyle event and 100-meter freestyle event, Winzenz won the 200-meter individual

medley and the 100-meter fly event, Jasmine Guzeldere won the 500-meter freestyle race and Vierra won the 100-meter breast stroke race.

Chico’s team of Emma Alvarez, Leah Asnault, Emma Hull and Sophie Meekins won the 200-meter freestyle relay, and in the 400-meter freestyle relay Cross, Smith, Hull and Winzenz took first place.
