Sounding off on frustrating mail service

Pardon me for using you as a sounding board for my frustrations with the Chico Postal service. The service has been poor in the past, and is now at a standstill.

Our gang mail box was broken into at the beginning of September and remains broken. To get your mail you must pick it up at the P.O. on Vallombrosa. Since I no longer drive I had to send a letter with the person to pick up my mail. Now they are requesting a photo ID to accompany my letter, even though our addresses are two numbers apart.

It is inconvenient to have to drive across town every day to get your mail and when you do find the time there is no place to park wasting even more time circling the parking lot.

When you ask they can not even give you a date as to when it will be repaired. I don’t know if other mail boxes were broken into at the same time as ours, but if so there are probably plenty of irritated people out there. What can we do to expedite this matter? Maybe a letter to the editor might help.
