APPLE PICKING IS FUN TO THE CORE

PARADISE » Gala apples grow Saturday at Noble Orchards in Paradise. Noble Orchards has U-Pick apples through October or as long as the apples last. Proof of vaccinatio­n with photo ID is required except for children under 12, but everyone must wear a mask at the orchard. Orchard owner Laurie Noble said Monday they recommend people wear long pants and closed toed shoes. People should also bring containers to pick apples into and to take their hauls home -picking sticks and wagons from home are appropriat­e and welcome. Parties of up to 10 are welcome to pick the fruit at the orchard at 7050 Pentz Road for $1 per pound. The orchard, fruit stand and nursery are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays through Fridays through October or as long as the apples last. Noble is selling apples at the Chico Certified Farmers Market on Saturdays and she said Gala and Granny Smith apples are available this week with Fuji and Rome apple varieties ripening in the weeks ahead.
