Wildcats golf team wins 1st of the season

The Chico State men’s golf team got its first team victory of the season Monday and Tuesday when competing at the Western Washington Men’s Invitation­al at Loomis Trail Golf Course.

As a team, the Wildcats finished 20-over par 596, two spots ahead of Montana State-Billings’ 22-over par 598.

Tyler Ashman was the top finisher for Chico State, carding a 3-over par 147 to finish tied for fourth place after moving up 15 spots on the second day. Ashman’s teammate Mark Noonan was one stroke behind Ashman, finishing tied for sixth place with a 4-over par 148. Christophe­r Colla shot a 6-over par 150, Dakota Ochoa shot a 7-over par 151 and Travis Miller shot a 10-over par 154.

Chico State will compete next Oct. 11 and 12 at the Links at Rolling Hills in Corning when the Wildcats host the Wildcat Classic.

College women’s golf CHICO STATE AT RJGA SHOOTOUT AT

ESTRELLA » Chico State placed 12th in the 19 team tournament Monday and Tuesday in Arizona with a team score of 55-over par 631. Cal State San Marcos took first place with a team score of 22-over par 598.

Kelsey Blaylock finished in 10th place on the individual leaderboar­d with a team-low 5-over par 149. Taylor Stewart finished 11-over par 155 and Trinity Hernandez shot 18-over par 162.

Chico State will wrap up its fall schedule Monday and Tuesday at the Sonoma State Fall Invitation­al at Santa Rosa Golf Course.

College men’s soccer BUTTE 7, COLLEGE OF THE REDWOODS 0 » Conner Pew had two goals in Butte College’s road win Tuesday. Alex Hjulmand recorded one goal and one assist, and Quintin Benn-John, Juan Tejada, William Ours and Antoine Joblet had one goal apiece.

Jovanni Casillas had two assists for the Roadrunner­s, and Sander Dahl, Idriss Oubrik, Juan Monge and Sander Trevor each had one assist.

Austin Matthews and Sabri Couasnon combined for the shutout in goal for Butte.

Butte (6-2-1, 2-0 Golden Valley Conference) plays next at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lake Tahoe Community College.

College women’s soccer

BUTTE 7, COLLEGE OF THE REDWOODS 0 » Butte College recorded a shutout on the road Tuesday. MacKenzie Anderson recorded three saves in goal for Butte and Kathleen Howard recorded two saves.

Erica Rodriguez scored twice for Butte and Jillian Weber recorded one goal and two assists. Allison Brott and Lydia Binger each had one goal and one assist. Hannah Sillars and Riley Blackburn recorded one goal apiece and Chloe Haun and Nevaeh Wood had one assist each.

Butte (4-3-1, 1-0 GVC) plays next at 2 p.m. Friday at Modesto Junior College.

Prep girls tennis

CHICO 9, RED BLUFF 0 » Chico won on the road against Red Bluff Tuesday. Addison

Fowkes, Clare Schaefer, Ceci Sims, Rayen Letner, Sabrina Agnew and Kili Capen won in singles for the Panthers in straight sets.

In doubles, the teams of Fowkes and Schaefer, Sims and Letner, and Agnew and Capen won 8-1.

Chico (7-1, 6-0 Eastern Athletic League) plays next at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Valley. PLEASANT VALLEY 9, ENTERPRISE 0 » Pleasant Valley won on the road Tuesday.

Maddux Wilson, Nia Billyos, Morgan Telegan, Mariah Letcher, Hannah Hanf and Alexis Sprotte won their singles matches for the Vikings. In doubles the team of Wilson and Telegan, Billyos and Letcher, and Sprotte and Rosa Krabbenheo­ft were all victorious.

PV (5-3, 3-2 EAL) plays next at 3:30 p.m. at home

against Chico.

Prep girls volleyball FOOTHILL 3, PLEASANT VALLEY 1 »

Pleasant Valley lost to Foothill on the road Tuesday 22-25, 19-25, 25-18, 35-37.

Emma Daugherty led PV in kills with 13 and Delaney Thau added 10 kills and led in aces with four. On defense Kendal Thau led in digs with 23, with Daugherty adding 21. Kenna Chapin had 17 digs and Delaney Thau had 16 digs. Alli Mimbs helped set up the Viking offense with a team-high 36 assists.

PV (6-10, 1-2 EAL) plays next at 7 p.m. Thursday at home.
