A SCARY CONTEST

-

It’s Frightening First Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in downtown Oroville as local businesses keep their doors open late and vie to win the annual scarecrow contest. Visitors may scan the QR codes next to any scarecrow to vote for their favorite online. One entry per person earns a chance to win a $50 certificate redeemable in any downtown business. The October First Friday also includes free scarecrow face painting which will be in front of Tiny Hinies on Montgomery Street. Live scarecrows will be walking around downtown for pictures and visitors are invited to take selfies with them. Table Mountain Realty’s scarecrow realtor sports a big sold key and a cheerful smile Thursday as he sits in the window of the Myers Street office waiting for his votes in the First Friday people’s choice scarecrow contest.
