New shops open in Oroville

OROVILLE » Several new service businesses have opened downtown including two new real estate offices, a spa and tattoo studio.

Pericardium Wellness at 1453 Huntoon St. was opened by Oroville resident Laurel Stewart as a holistic spa the main goal of which is to “facilitate healing through massage therapy and well-intentioned services and wellness products.”

Stewart has completed the National Holistics Institute for Massage’s 900-hour core program and is working toward her advanced neuromuscular therapist certification.

The spa features an oxygen bar in the front lobby and provides a variety of services including deep tissue, hot stone and Swedish massages as well as reflexology and cupping. Stewart said an esthetician will be joining the team in November and that by next year her business will be a “full scope” wellness spa

“It is my goal here at Pericardium

Wellness to offer perfect peace and healing through the art of massage therapy to all who will allow it,” she said.

The new Century 21 Select Real Estate office at 2061 Montgomery St. is the newest of the group’s six offices. Other north state Century 21 Select offices are located in Yuba City, Chico, Paradise, Orland and Gridley.

“It’s been a dream of mine for year to have an Oroville office. I’m, a big fan of Oroville,” said Doug Love, office co-manager.

Love said 15 agents work from the new Oroville office.

Table Mountain Realty has also opened a new office at 1359 Myers St. This is the third office opened by co-owners Melanie and Glenn Arace. The other offices are located in the Lakeside Market Plaza on Olive Highway and its main office on Oro Dam Boulevard East.

“Our main office was bursting at the seams. Agents come and go from the downtown office but things are starting to pick up and it’s a fun experience to be part of the downtown scene,” said Melanie Arace.

After five years of traveling to Oroville from his home in Sothern California to facilitate the annual tattoo convention at Feather Falls Casino, a friend suggested to Chris Earl, owner of 1st Amendment Tattoo in Bakersfield, that it would be “cool” if he opened a studio here. Earl agreed and recently opened Travelers Tattoo at 2030 Bird St.

“The idea for the shop is that we’ll have guest artists from around the world traveling to the shop to work. I meet artists all the time who like to get out of the cities and enjoy nature — hunting, fishing, canoeing. Oroville is a great place for that. They can come here and work in my shop and have a little vacation too,” said Earl.

The studio is currently open Thursdays through Sundays with future plans to be open full time. Guest artists from Texas, Hawaii and Southern California already have visits scheduled and new artists “are booking in all the time,” said Earl.

“It’s constant and both the artists and customers seem very excited. The visiting artists always get booked out,” said Earl.

The best way to find out what artists are scheduled and to book appointments is through the studio’s Instagram @travelerstattoooroville.
