Public Works seeks feedback for storm water plan
CHICO » Chico is seeking feedback on an update to the Storm Water Master Plan before an upcoming public information meeting.
The update is being described by the city as a comprehensive overhaul of the sewage and drainage facilities last updated in 1987. Although the city has continued to update the facilities incrementally since first implemented, the new Storm Water Master Plan will develop a new plan consistent with all current standards, the city said in a news release Thursday. The new plan will cover storm water management within the Chico city limits, as well as some unincorporated areas within the city’s sphere of influence.
Once completed, the Storm Water Master Plan will detail the typical features of drainage facilities throughout the city that are expected to be used for both private development and capital projects in order to meet the objectives of the plan.
The city said the purpose of this plan is to improve existing storm drainage, reduce the potential for flooding in the city, and to identify acceptable and compliant drainage facilities for future development.
Chico’s Public Works Department has prepared a notice of preparation which the city said is consistent with California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines. The documents will be available to be viewed through Nov. 1, 2021.
