FIREFIGHTERS CONTAIN MULTIPLE HWY 99 FIRES

OROVILLE » Firefighters on Thursday afternoon quickly contained multiple fires along Highway 99.

The largest of the small fires occurred at Highway 99 and Neal Road.

That fire broke out in the early afternoon about 12:30 p.m. and burned 2 acres before it was contained.

There were other four fires were near Shippee Road and Cycleland Speedway and they were started about 20 minutes after the first Neal Road one according to radio traffic.

The three fires occurred on

the west side of Highway 99 had forward progress stopped by firefighters and locals. Another fire on the east side of Highway 99 also had its progress contained by Cal FireButte County.

CAL FIRE-BUTTE COUNTY — CONTRIBUTED Cal Fire-Butte County firefighters were able to keep several small fires from spreading Thursday near Shippee Road outside of Oroville.
