Fire burns Gridley property, spreads to vegetation

GRIDLEY » A home in Gridley sustained serious damage Sunday after being burned in what was called the Sheldon Fire by Cal Fire-Butte County.

According to an incident report filed Sunday by Cal Fire-Butte County, the residentia­l fire was reported at around 2 p.m. and ended up spreading to about an acre of surroundin­g vegetation.

An out building on the property was entirely destroyed by the fire.

“Two additional engines were requested to assist in salvage and overhaul,” the incident report said.

No injuries or deaths were reported from the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigat­ion.

A total of 21 individual­s worked to contain and put out the fire. This included six fire engine companies, two water tenders and four overhead personnel.

The fire was considered 100 percent contained as of Sunday night.
