At least 2 dead, 2 injured in LA cannabis business fire

-

Human remains were found Tuesday in an apparent Los Angeles cannabis business that was gutted by fire and one of three burn victims also died, authorities said.

A dog capable of detecting human remains was being brought in to make sure there were no other victims, said fire Capt. Erik Scott.

The fire erupted early Monday afternoon in the one-story commercial structure in the Canoga Park area of the San Fernando Valley. Explosions occurred and a huge column of smoke rose from the building.

Three burn victims ran outside and indicated someone else was inside. In addition, authorities were unable to account for whoever was driving one of six burned vehicles parked outside, Scott said.

“Tragically, this morning we did find what appears to be an adult male in an area that is determined dead,” he said.

A victim who was burned over 90% of his body also succumbed, Scott said. One victim remained in critical condition and another was in serious condition.

Hash was found in the building and testing was continuing to determine if THC and other substances were present, Scott said.
