The challenge of COVID home repairs

-

We recently called for a plumbing repair. When the plumber arrived, I saw that he was not wearing a mask. He did not have one so II offered him one. He said, “I don’t do masks.” I told him, politely, that he was not welcome to come in. When I called to reschedule with another employee, no one was available. The next day I received a text from the owner: “Our employees have done their own research and decided that masks are not effective and we, as a company, respect their decision.” I asked if anyone with their company would wear a mask if coming into a home with vulnerable people, and the answer was no. As medical professionals we have also done our own research. Unmasked workers put us at risk of COVID or death. I urge every vulnerable person to ask when scheduling service, “Do your workers wear masks?” I found another provider.

I so appreciate the businesses that respect the needs of the vulnerable, especially if the business is providing service in the home. Please be assured that customers DO care and you will get my business in the future!
