Paradise Symphony orchestra opens season Sunday
The Paradise Symphony orchestra will host the first of its five scheduled concerts for the 2021-22 season Sunday evening.
Dr. Lloyd Roby is the conductor and music director for the Paradise Symphony orchestra.
Most recently organizers say he wrote the “The March of the First Responders,” which was to honor those who worked in and around paradise during the 2018 Camp Fire.
The first show, “The Beauty of Strings,” will open with Chico guitarist Warren Haskell.
Haskell, who holds both a bachelor of music and a master of music degree in guitar performance from the University of Southern California, and taught at Chico State, will play Vivaldi‘s Concerto No. 1 in D Major” and “Concerto No. 2 in A Major.”
After Haskell, the symphony will play “Serenade for Strings in E minor” by Edgar Elger.
Then it will do “From Holberg’s Time — Suite in the Olden Style” by Edward Greig.
The symphony will close out the performance with “Finlandia” by Jan Sibelius and Peter Tchaikowsky’s “March Slav in B-flat Minor”.
All concerts will start at 6 p.m., organizers ask that all those attending the concert be in their seats by 5:45 p.m. so ushers can ensure that COVID-19 restrictions are being met.
Organizers also say that masks and social distancing requirements will be required and enforced for individuals and or family groups until they are seated as long as the COVID-19 restrictions are in place.
Organizers also say that groups will be seated when all of the group members are present.
Concerts for the remainder of the 2021-2022 season will be held at the Paradise Performing Arts Center and concerts will be listed on the Symphony’s website, www.paradisesymphony.org.
Tickets will be available online or at the door the night of each concert. Information on programs, tickets, sponsorships and competitions can be found on the website.
