Nearly $100K raised for board race

CHICO » Some of the campaign finance documents for the upcoming supervisor­s elections have been made public by the Butte County Clerk-Recorder’s office with a breakdown of contributi­ons and expenses.

The latest documents show how much was made from Jan. 1 through April 23 for each Butte County Supervisor candidate and incumbent through both donors and loans as well as individual names, businesses and Political Action Committees which have contribute­d.

Based on the documents released so far, District 2 supervisor candidate Peter Durfee has raised the most money.

District 2 incumbent Debra Lucero has gathered a total of $47,649.60 when considerin­g $10,500 in loans and the remaining coming from various contributi­ons.

Lucero’s single highest donor was from a private firm Urban Associates in Commerce, California at $4,900. PACs the Butte County Central Committee and the Democratic Action Club of Chico contribute­d $4,000 and $1,000 respective­ly.

Chico artist Jeff Lindsay provided $2,000 to Lucero’s campaign while business owner Morgan Kennedy donated $1,000. A contributo­r who went unnamed in the document gave $1,411.60. Patrica Estrada and Kevin Thompson each contribute­d $1,000.

Other independen­t donors ranged from contributi­ons of $25 to $700.

Based on her campaign finance document, Lucero has spent $18,149.44 and began the most recently documented period with $14,531.

To date, District 3 Supervisor Incumbent Tami Ritter has raised $18,585 for the coming election. Roughly half of that, $9,912, has come in during the most recent reporting period.

The majority of Ritter’s contributi­ons came from independen­t donors who, on average, contribute­d between $100 and $300 with some providing up to $500. Ritter’s highest donation from an independen­t party came from Morgan Kennedy, a business owner who contribute­d $1,000.

Oroville Business All Things Carpet & Upholstery donated $1,000 to Ritter’s campaign.

The Democratic Action Club of Chico provided Ritter’s campaign with $500 and the Butte County Democratic Central Committee donated $2,000, Ritter’s highest single contributi­on for the coming election. The campaign has only spent $32 since Jan. 1.

For loans received, Ritter’s campaign has taken out $8,637.46.

Her campaign’s starting balance as of Jan. 1 was $4,535.40 and based on the documents submitted on April 23, that balance is up to $14,415.40.

District 2 candidate Peter Durfee has received

the largest total donations of the supervisor­ial candidates at $27,874.99.

Durfee’s top contributo­rs included Wayne Cook, the owner of the Diamond Hotel in downtown Chico, who contribute­d $2,650 along with Stu Depper Kasia Lewis and Alberto Vera-Gonzalez who each gave $4,900. The California Correction­al Peace Officers Associatio­n PAC donated $4,900 as well.

Chico Mayor Andrew Coolidge also donated $600 to Durfee’s campaign.

Individual donors who contribute­d less than $1,000 ranged from $100 to $750 per person. According to the finance document, Durfee’s campaign has spent $19,194.15 of that money with $2,204.67 still outstandin­g.

The Durfee campaign’s starting finance balance came out to $40,722.54. As it stands based on the documents submitted through April 23, Durfee’s balance totals $49,403.38.

Durfee’s documents state that his campaign has not taken out any loans.

District 3 Supervisor challenger Mary MurphyWald­orf has raised a total of $11,536.95 for her campaign as of April 23.

Murphy-Waldorf’s largest contributi­ons came from private business Minto Constructi­on, which donated a total of $4,898 and TJO LLC which donated $1,000.

She herself has contribute­d a total of $2,038.95 to her campaign with the remaining money coming from individual donors ranging from $100 to $500.

Murphy-Waldorf, according to the finance documents, hasn’t taken out any loans for her campaign.

As of April 23, MurphyWald­orf’s campaign finance balance sits at $4,538.04.
