Score 100 for Will, 0 for Thiessen
Despite the sometimes difficult reading of George Will’s opinions and the conservative slant that I often don’t agree with, I do respect his thoughtful and thoroughly researched discourse on various topics of the day. I especially liked his view of the current gridlock state of affairs in the U. S. Senate (Other Views, 5/1); his suggestion that we no longer allow Senators to become Presidents is spot-on and hopefully will be acted upon. How and when ...?
Marc Thiessen’s opinions, on the other hand, are nothing but second-guessing political armchair quarterbacking, consisting mostly of “what if” scenarios calculated to rile the emotions. No thoughtful suggestions about getting to the root of the perceived problem; just attack what’s in front of you.
Obviously I’m not a fan of Thiessen, but I’m guessing this paper keeps printing his “opinions” as a sterling example of so much divisive emotional blather versus George Will’s helpful commentary.
