Pleasant Valley baseball sweeps Foothill to end regular season

The Pleasant Valley baseball team concluded its regular season with a doublehead­ers sweep against Foothill on Tuesday. PV won 11-0 in game one and 12-1 in game two, and now carry a 24-3 record and 14-1 record in Eastern Athletic League play into EAL playoffs, which begin Monday.

In game one, PV’s offense was slow to start, scoring once in the second inning and twice in the third. An eight-run fifth inning ended the game early due to the run-rule as the Vikings led by 10 runs after five innings.

Sean Stevens, Jackson Blakley and Zach Martin had two hits each for PV in the opener. Martin had two RBIs and Brady White led with four RBIs. White and

Martin each had a home run, and Blakley had a double.

RJ Priddy won game one on the mound for PV, pitching five innings and allowing two hits while striking out eight.

PV’s scoring got started early in game two with two runs in the first inning and five runs in the second inning. The Vikings scored once in the fifth inning, before adding four runs in the seventh to secure the win.

Stevens, Blakley and Trent Van Nuys had two hits each for PV on Tuesday in a 14 hit game for the Vikings. Van Nuys led with three RBIs and Martin had two RBIs. Van Nuys had a double and a triple, Daniel Carralero had a double, and Stevens and Blakely each had a triple.

On the mound for PV, Jordan Riley pitched five innings and allowed two hits, three walks and one earned run while striking out eight. Spencer Heath pitched the final two innings and allowed one hit and struck out three.

PV now awaits their opponent for Monday’s EAL playoffs opener.

ORLAND 6, PARADISE ADVENTIST 3 » Orland (16-5, 15-0

Butte View League) defeated Paradise Adventist (8-6, 8-6 BVL) on Wednesday in the Division II final.

Orland will now play Pleasant Valley in the NorCal finals at 2 p.m. Thursday in Orland.

CHICO HIGH 15, SHASTA 1 » Chico High jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning and 11 runs in the second to defeat Shasta in five innings Tuesday.

Lexxi Smith led the Panthers with four hits, Midasia Wathen, Fiona Nielsen and Sadie Wahl had three hits each, and Kristy Louber and Carolina LaMoe had two hits each. Smith, LaMoe and Emily Babler had two RBIs each, and Wahl led with three RBIs. Wahl and Smith had two doubles each, and Nielsen and Liv Murphy had one double each. On the bases, Lamoe and Wahl had two stolen bases each.

In the circle for Chico,

Wahl pitched five innings and allowed two hits and one earned run while striking out 11 to earn the victory.

Chico High (12-10-1, 5-2 EAL) played Enterprise on Thursday and will play next at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Foothill.
