Let’s remember role of men in pregnancies
Maybe I’ve missed it, but in all this clatter around states legislating against women’s right to choose when to bear a child to term, shouldn’t such legislation contain at least some provision for the males involved?
Like mandatory DNA submission (just to be sure), and then a fair measure of responsibility for the medical bills and a parental-length term of child support. I’m sure neither Jesus nor Jehovah would want us to leave anyone out when it comes to the joys of unintended pregnancy.
And in cases of strangerrape or an otherwise undiscoverable daddy, maybe the state, having insisted the pregnancy be brought to term, should pick up the bill for those important first 18 years. I just think that if we’re going to make the mistake of sanctimoniously legislating away private, personal freedoms in this country, let’s be sure the resulting burdens are equitably borne. — David Norris, Chico
