Chico City Council to look at new proposed budget
The Chico City Council will host a special meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday for a budget presentation and study session.
The council could adopt its 2022/2023 fiscal year budget along with the presentation.
Interim City Manager Paul Hahn will be providing the report to the council and recommending that the city adopt the proposed budget.
“The interim city manager has recommended the 2022/2023 proposed budget to be provided for city council’s review and discussion,” the related staff report said. “Included with this report is the interim city manager’s budget message for both the city of Chico and the successor agency to the Chico Redevelopment Agency.”
If approved, the council will return on June 7 to finalize the budget with any revisions requested by councilors.
The recommended budget, according to the documents attached to the staff report, would total roughly $211.1 million, a considerable increase from the previous year’s $142.88 million.
Based on the same document, the city expects just more than $67 million in general and park fund revenue over the course of the coming fiscal year.
A discussion is planned for the 1 p.m. meeting on Tuesday to receive input on the proposed budget.
