New laws show way to continued decline

- — James Wood, Chico

Thanks to the infinite wisdom of our state legislators there are new laws that Californians may not be aware. Some are unnecessary, a couple are downright stupid and one is egregiously bad.

AB2147, billed as the “Freedom to Walk Act,” removes fines for jaywalking, as the old law was felt inequitable towards some racial groups. SB 357 Loitering Act called “Safer Streets for All Act” decriminalizes loitering for the intent to engage in prostitution. I’m confident both measures will make California a more pleasant and safer place to live/visit.

AB2098 COVID Misinformation Act allows for doctors to face discipline for spreading socalled misinformation/disinformation about vaccine effectiveness and side effects. Now that more information is public about vaccine effectiveness as well as side effects, including sudden death, it becomes incumbent upon your physician to discuss these issues with you. Also included under the umbrella of this measure is discussion of and prescriptions for such useful therapeutics as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin. With AB2098 these important discussions are viewed as unprofessional conduct and the medical board is required to act against the license of any such physician.

Friends, this is outright censorship and is unacceptable. It is also a mark of totalitarian regimes like China and Russia.

It’s no wonder California lost over 300,000 tax-paying residents last year.

Our country appears to be on a downspin under the current regime in DC and California, with its misdirected administration and legislators, is leading the way to destruction of our way of life as we know it.
