The fantastica­l world of ‘Shrek’ takes the CRT stage

CHICO >> The musical adventure of the large ogre named Shrek will be offered with “Shrek, the Musical”, by California Regional Theater on March 2-19 at the Center for the Arts Theater, 1475 East Ave. in Chico.

California Regional Theater is a local organizati­on that is dedicated to bringing high-quality theater production­s to the area.

Director Bob Maness, music director Chloe Brandi and choreograp­her Ciera Green will lead a cast of 25 in this memorable, award-winning world of Shrek where anything is possible and true love can conquer all.

Director Maness explains, “This production promises to be a hilarious and heartwarmi­ng retelling of the beloved Dreamworks Animation film that has captured the hearts of audiences young and old. This is a great night for the whole family.

“With colorful costumes, inventive set design, and catchy songs that will have audiences tapping their toes and singing along, ‘Shrek, the Musical’ is sure to be a hit with local residents and visitors.”

Shrek is the story of a hulking ogre who retreats to an ugly green swamp to live in happy isolation. A gang of homeless fairytale characters raid his sanctuary. They have been evicted by the unliked Lord Farquaad. Shrek strikes a deal that he will get their homes back, if he will get his home back. He rescues Princess Fiona, and finds something appealing and different about the pretty princess.

Lead actors in this exciting musical include: Shrek (Chris Sullivan), Fiona (Stephanie Rogers), Donkey (Judah Sanders), Farquaad (Joshia Robinson), Gingy (Anna Calvert), Pinocchio (Ashley Eaton) and Dragon (Chloe Brandi).
