Harold Edward Huggins, 87, of Orland, passed away on December 7, 2023 in Vancouver Washington. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday December 16th, 2023 at Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary with Pastor Jeff Tollison of the Orland Evangelica­l Free Church officiatin­g. His burial will follow at the Graves Cemetery.

Harold was born in Chico, CA to Ebb and Margaret Huggins on February 27, 1936. He went to school at Chico High School. He married Norma Ellen Huggins on July 28, 1962, in Sacramento, CA. He worked in constructi­on with his Dad Ebb and his brothers for several years. Hal followed his love of fishing and became a bass fishing tournament director. He put bass fishing tournament­s on all over California and Nevada. He was beloved by his fellow anglers and said to be the best tournament director. At Hal’s Tackle he developed his own line of fishing jigs and worms. He served in the US Army at Fort Whittier, AK. He was involved in the National Rifle Associatio­n.

Hal was an avid Bass Fisherman he also loved to go Deer Hunting with family and friends. Hal loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping with his family in the wilderness as well as at the beach. He loved to bowl and was active in bowling leagues at the Orland Bowling Alley.

Harold was a very loving man. He went out of his way to make people feel welcome. He always supported whatever endeavors you were engaged in. If you worked at Casa Lupe, he would eat there. If you worked at Chico Independen­t Honda, he would have his car worked on there. He will be greatly missed. Hal did not attend church often, but he loved Jesus. At Christmas time he would always say, “This is Jesus’ Birthday”.

Hal is preceded in death by his wife Norma, his sister Helen and her husband Virgil Nelson.

Hal is survived by William Huggins and his wife Catherine, Cynthia and her husband Patrick Shroll; his brothers Hank, Chris, and David Huggins and his wife Sandra; grandchild­ren Brandon, Zachary, Austin and Parker Shroll.
