Au­thor of “Eat to Beat Sore­ness,” Page 24 Af­ter los­ing 30 pounds 14 years ago, SJ Mc­Shane com­mit­ted to fit­ness for life. She be­came a per­sonal trainer, blog­ger and au­thor and has been at it for eight years. “I love to write about things that are in­spir­ing, in­for­ma­tive and that help oth­ers learn or grow,” she says.

Gym-side, Mc­Shane loves high-in­ten­sity in­ter­val train­ing such as sprints and trail run­ning and is proud to have im­proved her pull-ups. There is one move she still finds loath­some, how­ever: “I hate dips!” she says, laugh­ing. “I don’t like ad­mit­ting it be­cause it means I have a mus­cu­lar weak­ness, but I hate dips. There, I said it!”
