Can you think yourself slim?
Research says yes. According to a study from the University of Plymouth and Queensland University, weight loss can be boosted by five times with the use of a mental technique known as functional imagery training (FIT). FIT makes use of multi-sensory imagery, teaching clients how to come up with their own mental pictures of what change might look and feel like to them and how it might be achieved and maintained. Using FIT gave people the confidence to achieve their goals, which researchers believe is because mental imagery is more emotionally charged than other types of thought.
